Blogpost 10: My Experience Blogging
Hi, this is the final blogpost. You've made it! In this post, we are asking you to write about your experience blogging here in English. What have you learned? What have you enjoyed? How was the experience? Mention anything related to the topic that you want! Minimum number of words: 200
Since I am a teacher and not a student, my post will have a slightly different focus, but, still, I think it will interest you.
Throughout this blogging experience, you've been doing a lot of writing. Writing is inherently different from speaking (and listening). Speaking takes place in real time; there is time pressure when you speak--which creates the kind of stress you feel. Writing is not so connected to time. In fact, when you write, you have time to reflect, think, and consider things. This makes the experience very different. Also, writing takes place in space. You tend to write on a flat surface; you use your eyes--and not your ears. Different senses are applied.
When people write, they usually do it for different reasons that speaking: What we write is more permanent. Therefore, what we write might sometimes be seen as a more important or deeper piece of communication. The expectations of the recipient are different.
The challenges of writing are different too: there is spelling and punctuation to consider. You have time to consider word choice. Of course, grammar and structure are more relevant also. When you make a mistake or a typo, if you never correct it, it's there forever.
Perhaps, one of the best ways to improve writing is by doing a lot of it. These blogposts give you the chance to do a lot of writing. Due to the frequency of your writing, your ability to write is probably getting better... As you are university students, and this program has a certain academic tilt, writing is quite important. You may have to write in English in the future. For instance, if you want to study abroad, and must first take a standardized English test, there will be a writing section. Your writing these blogposts is a good first step in the direction of more "serious" academic writing.
I'm happy I could be of assistance!
